New Versions of XLGann, XLFibonacci and XLTrader
Hello Everyone,
Today I released new versions of XLGann XLFibonacci and XLTrader. XLGann and XLFibonacci have a new (better) way of rotating the two point grids. People who use that feature should download from the support area the new versions. I also made a minor change to the XLTrader addin. Now it uses the range of the axis instead of the value of the point to set the precision of the displayed value. Depending on the range of the value axis up to three decimals will now be displayed. That value is determined by converting pixel to points and may not be very accurate anyway so it should only be used as a reference.

Importing CSV's

Hello Everyone,
A new version (072711) of XLTools has been released. There is a youTube video at this link which shows how to use the new new features:
Importing CSV's from MetaTrader and Dukascopy
Forex traders using MetaTrader4 can now read Comma Separated Variable files directly into their XLTrader templates. Using another configurable template that same regularly updated csv can be opened and read and the spreadsheet updated at regular intervals. Also CSV files from the Swiss bank Dukascopy can now also be read directly into XLTrader templates.

New Office 2010 Installation Video
07/19/11 Filed in: XLTrader
Hello Everyone,
Today I uploaded a new video showing how to install XLTrader 2011 into Excel for Office 2010.
Install XLTrader in Office 2007
Microsoft made some changes for the trust center certificate import settings between office 2007 and 2010 that I was not aware of. When installing the XLTrader digital certificate (which helps ensure no changes have been made to the VBA code) it is important that you specify the correct certificate import location: Trusted Root Certification Authorities. If you do not choose that location, or if you accept the default location as was shown in the office 2007 installation video, then the button "Trust All from this Publisher" will not be enabled.
By installing the digital certificate, all spreadsheets created from an XLTrader template will be trusted. You must still save them as "Macro Enabled Spreadsheet" (.xlam) format but when you re-open them you will not encounter any annoying warning messages. Additionally, by making the XLTRADER folder a trusted location the .xll's (ta-lib.xll and xlcycle.xll) which are not digitally signed will not cause a warning to be issued.

Scale Finder

To scale their chart, normally one would adjust the number of bars and points displayed so that when a circle, triangle or square is overlaid, price-time symmetry is observed, that is provided their software is capable of doing that (most are not). For instance a low pivot might occur at the lower left corner of a square and the subsequent high pivot occurs at or near the upper right corner. The diagonal drawn between the lower left and upper right points of the square is what WD Gann called a 1x1 or 45 degree angle. XLTrader takes a slightly different approach to the problem of scaling.
Instead of worrying about how many bars (and or points) are displayed, in XLTrader the objects themselves are mathematically scaled. However nothing prevents you from adjusting the number of bars and points displayed as you see fit. In fact you may want try that then use the Excel drawing tools to experiment with the 2D object overlays. Regardless, nearly every geometric overlay in the XLTrader collection asks you to specify the scale and therefore you must know what to put there. If your overlay is not properly scaled you will not find success with these techniques.

Scale Finder first asks you to specify two pivots (i.e. a high and a low or vice versa). Based on the measured slope of the line defined by the two points selected, scale finder suggests three possible scale factors. Which scale factor you ultimately choose will depend on whether on you suspect the points lie on a 2x1, 1x1 or 1x2 Gann angle. The algorithm rounds to the nearest whole number reflecting a personal preference for single numeral scale factors and multiples of ten there of. The proposed scale factors are just a suggestion, a starting point... you still need to discover for yourself what works best with your market.
XLCycles Update
06/05/11 Filed in: XLCycles
I've made a minor change to XLCycles. The Hull MA functions (HULL MA and HULL Adapt) are now array formulas that automatically update when new data arrives. Users can download the latest version from the support area.
Template Version 1.1 Released
06/04/11 Filed in: XLTrader

You can get the templates by downloading the product you purchased from the support area. Installing the new templates is easy; the templates are a "drop-in" replacement. Simply replace the old template files with the new. You must also replace the XLTrader.xlam add-in with the new version. These templates are not backward compatible. Should you decide to upgrade to them, you will need to rebuild your exiting spreadsheets in the new templates.
XLMidas Bug Fix

I released a bug fix for XLMidas.
The Volume estimation subroutines associated with Topfinder had stopped working due to VBA changes.

A new version of XLMidas.xlam was released today. It features three new modules: Midas Price Distribution Function (Midas PFD); Mobility Oscillator and Multi-Timeframe pivots. You can read more about these features here. This release is free download, drop-in replacement for those who have purchased or upgraded XLMidas or the XLTrader Bundle within the last year.
A new version of the help file updated to reflect the changes in XLMidas is also available for download in the support area.

Office 2011 Mac Version
04/25/11
Hi Everyone,
Well today turned into a big disappointment. Let me take a step back and set the stage... Last fall Microsoft announced with great fanfare Office 2011 for the Mac. They said, unlike previous versions, it had a full implementation of VBA though they did not elaborate what exactly that meant. So I figured, like most people I assume, this was good news and meant Mac users would soon be able to use XLTrader without having to go the PC emulator (VMWARE etc.) route
Not so...
Not only does Office 11 not support XML Ribbon (which means the entire user interface would need to be redesigned) but they do not support xlls' which means XLIndicators and XLCycles would not work either. As if that weren't bad enough... nothing seemed to work when I attempted to install the add-ins stripped of XML. On top of that they're locked up and won't accept the password! Very irritating and I guess the bottom line is Mac users are out of luck and I'm out the cost of Office 2011 and a day of my life. There will be no version of XLTrader forth coming for the mac in the foreseeable future.
